Imagination Crafts - September Challenge Mid Month Inspiration - Anything Goes

Morning lovelies I hope you are all well and having a nice start to the week.  Today is the mid month inspiration for Imagination Crafts Challenge Blog's August challenge, Our theme this time is Anything Goes it is sponsored by Imagination Crafts and we have all used their fabulous products to make our projects.

Before I go on to my make I would like to point out that only entries using Imagination Crafts products will go in to the prize draw (although non IC makes can get top 3 spots).

For this challenge I have made wall hanging but I decided to make this one more summery. I began by painting the MDF Frames and charms with the Jet MDF Paint and once it was dry I coated it with crackle medium. When the crackle medium was dry, I mixed a small amount of the Bronze Brocade Silkies with the Chalk MDF Paint to get a pale dusky pink colour and then painted that on top the crackle. Next I used Gold Shine Sparkle Medium with the gilding technique from Imagination Crafts MDF Instuction DVD and the Brocade stencil. I then stenciled Sparkle Gel on top through the Butterfly Flourish Stencil and once it was dry I coloured the butterflies with liquid metal gilding paint. Finally I used Black Stars Sparkle Medium to guild the charms and then attached them, added some black satin ribbon to hang it by and decorated it with a few flowers and leaves.

Thank you for reading this post I hope it has been of some interest, as always I love to read your comments and I hope you will all come and join in with the challenge at Imagination Crafts Challenge Blog.

Creative Blogger Hop

Morning lovelies, I hope you are all well and having a good start to the week. I had a fabulous weekend away and the Andy Skinner workshop was awesome. It really did knock me for six so I have spent a lot of sleeping and recovering since getting home but it was totally worth it. I will post some pics of what I made at the end of this post.

The reason for this mornings blog post is that the fabulous Pauline Orr has nominated me to join the Creative Blogger Hop, which basically means that I have to answer some questions about myself and then nominate two bloggers who inspire me so that you can all hop over to their blogs for a little look and then they do likewise the following Monday.

Question 1.
What am I working on.......Well at the moment I am mostly working on getting a proper work space sorted out so that when I start uni at the end of the month I will have a decent place to work and as well as that mostly my attention is on the summer art project that the uni have set us.

Question 2
How does my work differ from others in my genre........That's difficult as I believe that everyone is inspired by those around them so there will always be some similarities between peers but I feel that because I enjoy both art and craft and I try to mix the two as often as possible, that creates some difference.

Question 3
Why do I create what I do.......... That's a bit like asking why do I breath lol it's just a necessary part of who and what I am, being creative is just something I have always done. That said it also works as a therapy for me and has helped me to cope with my health problems.

Question 4
How does my creative process work............. Hmmmm well some days I sit and play with bits of paper and pens etc until I want to tear my hair out because nothing good is happening lol. Seriously though, I try to draw inspiration from the places and people around me, along with things I see or feel anything can be an inspiration even if we don't realise it right away. The other key thing for me is to try and remind myself that it's ok to just play and get messy and that we don't always need to be striving for perfection, some times the messy things are the best and reminding myself of that frees me up to be expressive and just have fun.

Ok so that's my questions answered, now the two people I would like to nominate are,  Avril Watson and Rachel Fisher there were so many lovely people out there who inspire me but these ladies both have such wonderful spirits, they are lovely people and they both seem to have no limits to their crafty ideas so they always inspire me and make me smile.

Ok that's about all from me today except to share the piccies of my book from last weekends workshop.

Thank you all for reading this post, as always I love to read your comments.

Imagination Crafts - September Challenge - Anything Goes

Morning lovelies, I hope you are all well and having a good start to the week, I am writing this post on Friday as when this goes live I will be away from home, so at the moment I am very much looking forward to a lovely crafty weekend with good friends.

Today  is the start of Imagination Crafts Challenge Blog's September challenge, Our theme this time is Anything Goes. The challenge is sponsored by Imagination Crafts and we have all used their fabulous products to make our projects.

Before I go on to my make I would like to point out that only entries using Imagination Crafts products will go in to the prize draw (although non IC makes can get top 3 spots).

For this challenge I have used some of the chip board and charm MDF sets to make a Christmas decoration. For the background I used Chalk MDF Paint, a coat of Crackle Medium and then a coat of Jet MDF Paint. When the paint was dry I used the Brocade stencil, Diamond Sparkle Medium and the foiling technique that sue teaches on the Imagination Crafts MDF Instructional DVD. Next I outlined the design with a gold gel pen, and then I did the foiling technique again using part of the Santa and Sleigh Stencil with Gold Sparkle Medium on the frame piece of MDF. Finally I mixed some Sparkle Medium with Chalk MDF Paint to make a nice fluffy looking medium and used with the Snowflakes Stencil and the Snowflake Flurry stencil to add some pretty snowflake details to the pieces. Once the MDF pieces were finished I simply stamped out a sentiment from the Snowflake Stamp Set to put in the frame and just put it all together using organza ribbon. All of the products used are by Imagination Crafts.

Imagination Crafts - August Challenge Mid Month Inspiration - Summer Holidays Or Create A Scene

Morning lovelies I hope you are all well and having a nice week. It's been very hectic here, I really thought I would have spare time over summer but it's disappearing very quickly and I don't feel like I have been able to stop much so far. Uni has given us a summer project to work on and I have had to organize loads of training sessions to learn how to use new software for the course and make sure I am as prepared as I can be for it, which also means trying to clear my spare room so that I have a proper dedicated space to work. It's all very interesting but I thought I might get a little time to take it easy lol.

Anyway enough rambling today is the mid month inspiration for Imagination Crafts Challenge Blog's August challenge, Our theme this time is Summer Holidays Or Create A Scene it is sponsored by Imagination Crafts and we have all used their fabulous products to make our projects.

Before I go on to my make I would like to point out that only entries using Imagination Crafts products will go in to the prize draw (although non IC makes can get top 3 spots).

For this card I made up a background using inks and bits of scrap paper to mask I then used the Arch of Flowers stencil to frame it and the little dragonfly stamps and a sentiment from the dragonfly stamp set to add focal points. I kept it all fairly simple with card and just used black and white matt and layering so that the card is all about the scene.

Imagination Crafts - August Challenge - Summer Holidays or Create A Scene

Morning lovelies I hope you are all well and getting some of the nice weather that's been about. I have seen a little sun but not nearly enough as I haven't really been up to much the last couple of weeks but fingers crossed I am feeling more myself now so hopefully the sunshine will hold out (lol I bet it rains now).

Today  is the start of Imagination Crafts Challenge Blog's August challenge, Our theme this time is Summer Holidays or Create A Scene. The challenge is sponsored by Imagination Crafts and we have all used their fabulous products to make our projects.

Before I go on to my make I would like to point out that only entries using Imagination Crafts products will go in to the prize draw (although non IC makes can get top 3 spots).

For this challenge I have made a card using the Window stencil and the branches from the Butterfly Blossom stencil with Silkies Stamping paints from Imagination Crafts. I started by just stencilling the inner parts of the window on to kraft card in black. I then filled in the frame and the brick work from the stencil with Bronze Brocade silkies I had to reuse the brick work by waiting for one section to dry then flipping the stencil over or rotating it to make it look varied as there are only little sections of it on the stencil, so I repeated this until I had the right amount of wall. I then added some black to some Bronze Brocade to darken it and used that with the Butterfly Blossom stencil over the top of the window colouring only the branches and the leaves and again flipping the stencil so that I had branches in two directions. Finally I added the little bird from the Window stencil to one of the branches. I then fairly simply matt and layered the image and put it on a card blank and added a couple of little bows for decoration.
