PanPastel Challenge Blog - Challenge 7 - Use A Ribbon

Morning all, I hope you are well and enjoying your weekend. It's time for a new challenge to start over at the PanPastel Challenge Blog and this week the theme is Use A Ribbon, the prize is a fantastic PanPastel starter kit provided by our regular sponsor Your Creativity Store.

So for this theme I thought it would be quite fun to make it all about the ribbon  rather than just adding the ribbon to my design.

The ribbon is coloured using PanPastels (I  will explain  how further on)  but I had lots of ribbon left  after the first card so I made this one as well.

Ok so I will start with how I coloured the ribbon, I took some wide white ribbon I tided a  bow in one piece and cut it off  from the rest I  then sprayed both the bow and the rest of the ribbon with water and scrunched it up in my hands to get  it as creased and rumpled as I could.

Next I took my old and rather tired looking perfect medium pad pressed sections of the ribbon on to the perfect medium and then in to the different shades of PanPastel repeating the process and overlapping the colours until I was happy with it and then spraying with fixer.

At this point I did tidy up the bow a bit and tighten it up again as with all the scrunching the bow was looking a little sloppy, I then used double sided tape  to stick the ribbon to the card and form the ruffles and since I had so much ribbon left I decided to make the  flower for the second card.

I made the flower by stitching a basic running stitch along the edge of the and  drawing up the  ribbon in to a circular shape, I then stitched the edges together and went on to the next layer by repeating the process but this folding the edge of the ribbon a little and stitching along the folded edge so that the second layer would be slightly  smaller.

I then stitched the second one to the  first one and went on to make the final layer by repeating  the process but  this time folding the ribbon in half and stitching along the folded line.

The cards themselves are quite basic but I am really  pleased with how the ribbon turned out.

Thank you for reading this post, as always I love to read your comments and I hope you will hop over to the Challenge Blog and join in as we love to see your gorgeous  creations.
