Feel Better Soon

Hiya, I hope you are all well and having a good week so far, I have had a strange day today I have been very light headed and wobbly since I woke up this  morning so have been trying not to move about too much today and once again trying to take it easy.

So today I have another of the get well soon cards that I made the other day (I had to make a couple as my parents wanted one to send as well)

To make this card I have used an 8"x8" card blank, a paper from My Minds Eye Lost & Found Collection and some white card stock. I used an ultimate pro embossing board to  emboss the leaves on to the white card stock, the flourishes and the butterfly were cut out using Marianne's  Design dies and the image is from a House Mouse stamp set from Joanna Sheen and coloured in using Promarkers. The Pearls, the doily and the ribbon were all  old items  from my stash.

I would like to enter my card in to the following challenges,

C.R.A.F.T Challenge Blog - Challenge 143 - Sketch (I have reversed the sketch, I hope that's  ok)
Oldie But A Goodie Challenge Blog - Red & White With A Ribbon (the ribbon, pearls doily and the embossing board  I used are all over 6 months old)
Allsorts Challenge Blog - Week 143 - Its Your Choice

Thanks for reading this post, as always I love to read your comments.

A Get Well Soon Card & Some Stick Pins

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well and had a fab weekend. I would like to say a massive thanks to Lee who has now officially got me completely hooked on making stick pins, I had my first ever go at it over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it, I found it to be really relaxing and whilst I do feel like I need to practise on my glue gun finesse I was really quite chuffed with the results and Luke (the other half) even had a go too (bet you can't guess which ones are his lol).

Please excuse the paint and ink covered box lol, I would love to know what you think and I would expect that you will see a lot more stick pins on my cards now lol.

Here is one of the unexpected get well soon cards that I had to make to for a family friend who went in to hospital.

To make this card I have used a 6"x6" card base,  3 different patterned papers from Papermania, some yellow lace and some of  my stickpins and the image is from Lili Of The Valley and coloured in with Promarkers.

I would like to enter this card in to the following challenges,
Simon Say Stamp Challenge Blog - Simon Says Use 3 Patterned Papers
Crafts & Me Challenge Blog - Challenge 72 - Shades Of Spring
That Craft Place Challenge Blog - Anything Goes

Just before I go I would like say another massive thank you to Linda  for awarding me The Versatile Blogger Award I was so thrilled to see that Linda had thought of me for this. Linda's blog is http://lindasimpsoncraftypieceofheaven.blogspot.com/ and definitely worth popping over.

PanPastel Challenge Blog - Challenge 7 - Use A Ribbon

Morning all, I hope you are well and enjoying your weekend. It's time for a new challenge to start over at the PanPastel Challenge Blog and this week the theme is Use A Ribbon, the prize is a fantastic PanPastel starter kit provided by our regular sponsor Your Creativity Store.

So for this theme I thought it would be quite fun to make it all about the ribbon  rather than just adding the ribbon to my design.

The ribbon is coloured using PanPastels (I  will explain  how further on)  but I had lots of ribbon left  after the first card so I made this one as well.

Ok so I will start with how I coloured the ribbon, I took some wide white ribbon I tided a  bow in one piece and cut it off  from the rest I  then sprayed both the bow and the rest of the ribbon with water and scrunched it up in my hands to get  it as creased and rumpled as I could.

Next I took my old and rather tired looking perfect medium pad pressed sections of the ribbon on to the perfect medium and then in to the different shades of PanPastel repeating the process and overlapping the colours until I was happy with it and then spraying with fixer.

At this point I did tidy up the bow a bit and tighten it up again as with all the scrunching the bow was looking a little sloppy, I then used double sided tape  to stick the ribbon to the card and form the ruffles and since I had so much ribbon left I decided to make the  flower for the second card.

I made the flower by stitching a basic running stitch along the edge of the and  drawing up the  ribbon in to a circular shape, I then stitched the edges together and went on to the next layer by repeating the process but this folding the edge of the ribbon a little and stitching along the folded edge so that the second layer would be slightly  smaller.

I then stitched the second one to the  first one and went on to make the final layer by repeating  the process but  this time folding the ribbon in half and stitching along the folded line.

The cards themselves are quite basic but I am really  pleased with how the ribbon turned out.

Thank you for reading this post, as always I love to read your comments and I hope you will hop over to the Challenge Blog and join in as we love to see your gorgeous  creations.

The Owl & The Mouse

Morning all, I hope you are all well and enjoying another day of sunshine. I had a lovely surprise this morning of an unexpected package in the post with a lovely thank you card and a massive box of Thorntons choccies just to let me know that what I do is appreciated and it was really overwhelmingly lovely to feel so appreciated. So I was a bit naughty this  morning (as some of you will know I am not supposed to have choccies) but who can resist a Thorntons coffee truffle especially when it's such a lovely lovely gesture (that's my excuse and I am sticking to it lol, I did very much enjoy having some choccies though).

This morning I have another card made using the Sweet Owl papers from Desmet Designs who have also just announced the new design team members on their challenge blog.

To make this card I have used a 6"x6" card base and 3 papers from  the Sweet Owl paper pack, the stamped image is from the Creative Expressions Tatty Button stamps and coloured in using Promarkers. I have then  just added a knotted ribbon bow and some pearls to decorate.

I would like to enter this card in to the following challenges'
Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - Simon Says .... Use Three Different Papers
Stampin For The Weekend Challenge Blog - Challenge 4 -Bingo (I have gone for ribbons / bows, pearls and pink)
Moving Along With The Times  Challenge Blog - MAWTT Lots Of Layers

Exploding card tutorial

Hiya, I hope you are all well and having a great sunny day. As some of you will remember a few weeks back I made an exploding card and promised I would  post a tutorial for it, not long after that my health went a bit off the rails and it got a little delayed because of that, but I have finally gotten around to doing it and I am really quite pleased with this one so I hope that you like it.

Ok to make this card I began with a sheet of white A3 card (you can make two of these from one A3 sheet). With the A3 card in a landscape position measure and draw lines 14cm in from the top and the bottom (if you want to make two if not you only need to measure 14cm from edge). Then cut along the line so that you have long thin pieces of card.

Next (keeping your long thin piece in a landscape position) measure 14cm in from both the left and right hand edges and score lines from top to bottom. Then measure 7cm in from both the left and right hand sides and score lines from top to bottom. Next you need to measure and mark points at the top and bottom of the card in the center (21cm from either  edge) do NOT score between these two points.

For the next step take your ruler and line it up from the point in the center at the top (21cm mark) to the bottom of the scoreline 7cm in from the left and score a line. Then do the same thing from the top  center mark to the bottom of the scoreline at 7cm in from the right hand side. We then need to line up the ruler from the bottom center mark (21cm) to the top of  the scoreline 7cm in from the left and score a line and then repeat  the process from the bottom center mark to the top  of the 7cm line in from the right.

Your basic card shape is now ready to be folded and should look something a little like the picture below (I have drawn in the scorelines in pencil on mine so that it's easy for you  to see)

Ok so now we are getting to the fiddly bit, firstly fold along all of your scorelines both backwards and forwards so that the they are nice and loose and easy to move (this makes the folding bit a lot easier).

There are two ways that you can do your fold, you can have it so that the diamond shape sits at the front (like my card above) or so that the diamond sits at the back, the process of folding is exactly the same the only difference is weather you fold backwards or forwards.

To fold your card all you need to do is put your fingers on the top and of the scoreline at 14cm and push so that the smaller triangle shapes are sitting behind the diamond shape (or in front of if doing it the other way), if you haven't done it before it will probably feel  a bit odd but don't worry you won't wreck it.

Once your card is folded you need to decorate, I do this by cutting out panels of patterned papers, for this one I have put paper on all of the panels but I very often leave some white panels it's really down to what you like the look of. To make my paper panels, I took a 12"x12" sheet of Papermania patterned paper and drew out 3 squares (on the back) at 13.5cm x 13.5cm (as your panels need to be slightly smaller so that they don't cover your scorelines) I have then used my ruler to draw in the shapes that mirror the panels on my card.

I then cut out all of my panels and stuck them in to place. For extra decoration I wanted to keep it quite simple so as not to make it too busy so decorated with a doily, my main image (which is my first ever edwin stamp from Magnolia coloured in with Promarkers) I then added some string to both sides and some chipboard shapes and a bicycle charm.

I hope that all makes sense I have tried to give as much detail in  my explanation as possible. If any of you have a go at these please do let me know as I would love to see your creations.

I would like to enter my card in to the following challenges,

Penny  Black & More At Allsorts - Feb Challenge - Bingo (I have gone for brown white and kraft again )

Quick Little House Mouse Card

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well and having a beautiful sunny day like we are here, I have once again  had a very unproductive morning, it seems like I just can't get going in the mornings at the moment so I have decided not worry about it too much and to just expect not to get much done early in the day lol (at least for now).

I have a quick little house mouse card to show you today and I would like to enter this card  in to the following challenges,

House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge Blog - Challenge # 113 - Make Wishes Come True (I hope this is ok for this theme)
Delightful Challenges - Weekly Challenge - Use Patterned Paper

To make this card I have used a piece of left over white card to make a 9cm x 9cm card base, the papers were a left over piece of Joanna Sheen's House mix paper pack that I had used some of for another card, the image is one of the smaller House Mouse rubber stamps from a Joanna Sheen set that I coloured in using Promarkers. The sentiment is from the Souffle Sentiments stamp set from Crafters Companion and then I just added one ribbon, a little flower and some pearls to  decorate.

My Latest Ebay Bargain

Morning all, I hope you  are all well, I am feeling a bit sluggish again this morning and  once again it has taken me all morning to accomplish nothing lol. Although I did have a very nice surprise this morning when I popped over to  Jacque's Blog to have a look at what she had been up to, I saw that I  was picked out in the random thingy to win a gorgeous Magnolia stamp from the Sunday Sensations  giveaway that Jacque runs for Magnolia-licious, which was a really nice pick me  up when I was feeling not so good. Thank you Jacque.

Ok so on to my make and my latest ebay bargain, I have a tag to  show you today using the fantastic stamp of Tilda with the Koala which I picked up on ebay for less than a tenner including postage.

I would like to enter  my tag in to the following challenges,
Totally Tilda  Challenges- Challenge # 40 - Tilda With A Hat On
Just Magnolia & Hanglar & Stanglar Challenge Blog - Challenge # 144 - Make A Tag
Glitter Geeks Challenge Blog - Week 7  - Girls & Boys
Crafty Bloggers Network Challenge Blog - Challenge # 14 - Shabby Chic
Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - Simon Says .... Use 3 Different Papers

To make my tag I used an old piece of cardboard box which I  cut to shape,  3 Nitwit papers which were free with Simply  Cards & Papercraft mag just before christmas, the stamped image  is Magnolia and I coloured it in  using Promarkers. I then added the gorgeous ribbon with threads  and beads on the edge that I got from a local craft store, a chip board sentiment (sorry can't remember who it's  from) and some of my torn paper flowers. Finally I punched a hole with my screw punch and added some pale blue velvet ribbon to finish.

Thanks for reading this post, as always I would love to know what you  think

Summer Daze

Evening all I hope you have all  had a good day, I think the sunshine has given me a bit of a lift today and I have a very summery card for you this evening.

I would like to enter this card in to the following challenges,

Glitter Geeks Blog Challenge - Week 7 - Girls & Boys

To make this card, I used an 8"x8" card blank and 3 papers from the Melody Ross paper pack that Desmet Designs sent me, the image is from Magnolia (one of my newest Tilda's) and is coloured in with Promarkers and the flourishes were cut out using Marianne's Design dies. I have then added a white feather and some flowers with shimmer dots in the center to decorate. I have tried to take enough close ups to try and show just how lovely and sparkley this paper is but it still looks much prettier in real life.
